9:50 a.m. — Four cases of dengue fever in American Samoa

9:50 a.m. — American Samoa reports four cases of rapid test-confirmed dengue fever as of July 30, according to the Guam Department of Public Health’s Office of Epidemiology and Research. However, there have been no cases of the most serious form of the disease, dengue hemorrhagic fever, thus far.

Two of the recent cases were American Samoa residents while two were delegates to the 10th Pacific Arts Festival, according to a news release from Public Health.

Festival participants, including a delegation from Guam, were made aware of the possibility of becoming ill upon their return home.

No cases of dengue (suspected or confirmed) in the Guam delegation to FestPac have, to this date, been reported to Public Health.
