K. K. Gordon Lan received his Ph.D. in Mathematical Statistics from Columbia University in
1974. Before joining Johnson & Johnson in 2005 as Senior Director of Statistical Science, he held
8 L+ z2 R* _% ipositions as Mathematical Statistician at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute
(NHLBI/NIH), Professor of Statistics at George Washington University, Distinguished Scientist
at Pfizer and Statistics Fellow at Sanofi-Aventis.

Gordon is responsible for providing scientific and technical consultation to J&J statisticians,
$ T4 a, W$ O, c, ~1 V. v3 c8 s' Uclinical teams and management. He also leads/participates in methodological research projects,
introduces new statistical approaches in support of organizational goals.

Gordon has published more than 50 research papers in professional journals and has given more
3 P- |6 ~0 C, Cthan 190 invited talks at universities and professional meetings.  He is interested in statistical
& r8 S$ f- j( ?: f) ]methods for clinical trial design and data analysis. Among his many contributions to biostatistics
methodologies, Dr Lan has proposed a very popular and innovative method (alpha spending
function) for interim monitoring and group sequential decision making in drug development.

Gordon was elected Fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA) in 1992 and Fellow of
the Society for Clinical Trials in 2009.  Currently, he serves as Co-Editor of the journal Statistics
  b6 {- A7 E/ A& s' Pin Biosciences. He also serves on the Board of Directors, Society for Clinical Trials
